Evaluation of the Center for Community Services Project Funded by CORDAID

PST CRRC conducted in November 2008 a rapid evaluation of the Child and Family Development Program of the Center for Community Services (CCS) of the Ateneo School of Government.  The evaluation examined the program's strategies, its effectiveness, efficiency, organizational capacity, relevance and sustainability in four barangays in Old Sta. Mesa.

Before collaborating with CORDAID, CCS was operating purely under the welfare approach with its educational sponsorship program as its flagship project.  When CCS was integrated with the Ateneo School of Government, CCS shifted to a developmental and rights-based approach to address poverty, facilitate access to basic services, and increase the level of community awareness and cooperation in Old Sta. Mesa.

CORDAID's support in 2006 allowed for the creation and delivery of programs that promote the rights of women and children.  The challenge for CCS now is to bridge the gap between the local government to fulfill its obligations, and the community to demand their rights and access to basic services.
